

Mr. Burdette spent his adult life working for Fluor Daniel, from which he retired in 1994 for medical reasons. His positive spirit never wavered through his illness and subsequent double lung transplant in 2011. His commitment to and love for his family will continue to touch everyone’s lives.
Mr. Burdette was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Gloria Burdette and an infant daughter, Kristen Burdette. He is survived by his wife Sue (Sherrill) Burdette, his mother-in-law Gretchen (Baldwin) Sherrill, daughter Natalie (Dwayne) Benson, sons Richard Donald (Trey) Burdette, III (Lindsay) and Zachary (Jordan) Burdette; five grandchildren, Meryt and Luke Benson, Raegan, Ian, and Knox Burdette; two brothers Clif Burdette and Alan (Debbie) Burdette; one sister Brooks (Leslie Bice) Burdette, one sister-in-law Cile (Rodney) Cogburn; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive visitors at their home.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, May 28th at 2:00 pm at Wilmington Island Presbyterian Church, officiated by Reverend Andy Meeker. A brief reception will follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mayo Clinic Lung Transplant Support Group or to Wilmington Island Presbyterian Church.
