

Robert graduated from Baker County High School, Macclenny, FL. in 1964. That same year he joined the Navy and became an Aviation Machinist Mate transferring in 1967, to the Naval Reserves and received an Honorable Discharge in August, 1970. He attended GA Southern and worked at Reidsville State Prison as a Correctional Officer. He was an engineer with CSX Railroad until 1986, and also owned and operated MEGA Security Systems. Bob was Past Commander of American Legion Post 135, and a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where he served on the Evangelism, Stewardship and Building Committees. He participated in many Lenten Dramas and started the Thanksgiving Day dinner in 1998. He received his certificate as a Stephen Minister in 1999. Bob was a giving man who generously gave of his time to help others. He was a charter member of the Handyman Club of America. He was the founder of Shag Beach Bop Dance Club, and loved beach music and brought many top beach bands to the area. He was an active participant in Savannah Tea Party, 13th Colony Patriots, Act for America and American Soldiers’ Wife, and Neighborhood Watch Groups. He loved his Lord, his family, and America, and wanted freedom upheld.
He is preceded in death by his father, Raleigh O. McEwen, Jr. and his grandparents. Survivors: his loving wife of 38 years, Lonna Heick McEwen; son, Bill (Corinna) McEwen of Havanna, FL. and daughter Terri Ann McEwen of Tallahassee (both from his first marriage), Renae (Brian) Lowe, Mark (Cheryl) McEwen, of Savannah, Ryan McEwen of Columbia, SC and Daniel McEwen of Savannah. Grandchildren, Hannah, Nicole, Collin, Jake, Noah and Maryl; parents, Jack and Eileen Parish Harris; siblings, Terry (Edie) McEwen, of TX, and Janice (John) Bonnell, of Valdosta, GA, and many other relatives and friends.
Remembrances may be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church or the American Vascular Foundation.
Visitation: Tuesday, July 17, 2012, from 6 – 8 PM at the Fairhaven Funeral Home, Hubert C. Baker Chapel.
Funeral Service: Wednesday, July 18, 2012, at 2:00 PM at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Savannah, GA.
