

Robert S. Cabaniss, Jr., 88, of Savannah, died Sunday, Nov. 6, 2011 at Hospice Savannah, Inc. He was born in Savannah, Ga., and was preceded in death by his parents, Robert S. Cabaniss, Sr., and Leila Powell Cabaniss; 3 sisters, Eloise C. Cullen, Lucille C. Henderson and Inez C. Earnest. He was a graduate of Savannah High School, and a veteran of WW II, having served in the US Army. He was retired from Union Camp Paper Corporation, having worked as a Technician in the Multi Wall Department. He was a member of White Bluff United Methodist Church since 1977, where he was an Honorary Member of the Church Council, was very active on the Building Committee – “Last Phase”, and he served as Property Manager, and he was a member of the United Methodist Men, Robert was Christened at Grace United Methodist Church on the corner of Park Ave and Jefferson Street, and later joined Wesley Monumental United Methodist Church, until affiliating with White Bluff United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife, Grace Silva Cabaniss, of Savannah, Ga; a niece Nancy H. Crovatt and her children & grandchildren; a nephew Gerald Henderson and his children & grandchildren. Visitation: 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Fairhaven Funeral Home – Hubert C. Baker Chapel. Funeral Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Hubert C. Baker Chapel, with Dr. Wayne Moseley and Rev. John Haney, officiating. Interment; Hillcrest Abbey Memorial Park.
