

She was born in Savannah, Ga., and was preceded in death by her husband, Homer Lamar Collins, Jr., and her parents, Robert Fulton Brannen, Jr., and Flora Alberta Carter Brannen, and her grandson, A. J. Collins
She was retired from D. J. Powers Shipping and Brokerage Company, and she was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Montgomery Ward), where she served as a member of the Relief Society. Shirley was known for her baking skills, baking cakes for all occasions, including wedding cakes. She was also a caterer, who catered many parties, and wedding receptions.
She is survived by 3 sons, Homer Lamar Collins, III (Dianne) of Guyton, GA; Alan Lawrence Collins, Sr., (Sherry), and Robert F. Collins, Sr., (Leslie), of Savannah, GA; 2 daughters, Jean Marie Collins Sapp (Michael), and Jennifer Collins Miller (Michael), all of Savannah, Ga. , two brothers, Robert F. Brannen, (Dottie) of Bluffton, SC, and Mitchell Ellis “Mickey” Brannen, (Betty), of Savannah, GA; 9 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren.
Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Friday at Fairhaven Funeral Home, Hubert C. Baker Chapel.
Funeral Services: 11 a.m. Saturday at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Montgomery Cross Roads), with interment in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
Mrs. Collins will be taken to the church at 9:30 a.m. Saturday to lie in state.
