

Shirley Clark O’Hayer, age 82, widow of Lt. Col. Thomas J. O’Hayer Sr., died Thursday, January 16, 2014. Shirley was born in Savannah, Georgia, and graduated from Savannah High School in 1950. Her greatest joy was being a wife, mother and grandmother. She is survived by her four children, Tommy & Jennifer O’Hayer, Tim & Frances O’Hayer, Larry & Laura O’Hayer, and Nancy & Eddie Brisendine. She was affectionately known as “Nannie” to her grandchildren Amanda & John, Haley & Dixon, Christopher, Brandi & Mike, Patrick, Shannon & William, Mackenzie and Grace and great grandchildren Madison, Reagan and John Thomas. She is also survived by her brother William Gerry Clark. She was preceded in death by not only her husband but also her mother, Dorothy Y. Clark, sister, Dottie C. Joiner, grandson Thomas J. O’Hayer III and lifelong friend Mary F. “Mamie” Kelley. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of the MSI Unit at Memorial University Medical Center for the compassionate care given to their mother. Visitation will be held from 5-7pm Friday, January 17 at Fairhaven Funeral Home, Hubert C. Baker Chapel. Funeral Service will be held at 11am on Saturday, January 18 in the Chapel of Fairhaven Funeral Home with interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice Savannah.
