

Born in Rotterdam, Holland, December 22, 1923. She married Oscar Heil, who was a chief engineer in the merchant marines, in June 1950. In September 1951 she moved to the United States with her husband and infant daughter and they resided in Newark, NJ. In 1956, the family moved to Monticello Florida, where she helped manage their cattle ranch and raised her 3 children while Oscar was at sea. After her husband retired from the merchant marines, the ranch was sold and the family moved to Ft. Pierce, Florida. Yvonne and Oscar were married for 54 years. After Oscar’s death in 2004, Yvonne moved to Savannah to be closer to her daughter Cynthia.
Yvonne was a devoted wife and mother. She enjoyed flowers, tennis and talking about politics at any opportunity.
She was preceded in death by her husband Oscar and her daughter, Sheila. Surviving are her daughter, Cynthia Heil, Savannah; son, Desmond Heil and his wife Trina, Plant City,FL; granddaughters—Nicole Heil in Riverview, FL, and Andriana Fragola in Miami, FL; and great grandson, Isaac in Riverview FL. In Holland—her eldest sister, Cili Dekkers (100 yrs old), nephews, Frits Dekkers and wife Hanneke and Rob Dekkers and wife Ria, and niece, Carla Dekkers.
The family wishes to thank Glenda Sheley for her tender care, Patsy and Dina from the THA Group and Hospice Savannah’s staff that supported Yvonne’s care in her last days.
Memorial Service to be held at Fairhaven Funeral Home, Hubert C. Baker Chapel, 7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive, on Saturday May 5 at 2 pm.
