Passed away peacefully at Scarborough General Hospital, Toronto, at the age of 78. She is survived by her husband, Jack, of almost 56 years who is heartbroken at the loss of his “Georgie”. Her children, Cristina Aguanno (Joe) and John Salvatore (Mary), along with her two grandchildren, Richard and Sofia, are heartbroken and will miss her dearly. Georgina was born and raised in Toronto, and was the youngest of 3 children. She was predeceased by her siblings, Lauretta Sampson and James Brodie. Georgina was a strong and independent woman. She loved her family fiercely and protected them to the very end. She is fondly remembered by her extended family and friends, all of whom have great memories of this great lady! She had a vivacious personality and loved to tell stories from her childhood and career. Georgina was an avid Scrabble and Gin player. She loved watching old Turner Classic Movies and once claimed that there wasn’t an old movie she hadn’t seen. She was probably right! Georgina has a vast brooch collection and wore them all the time, even just around the house. In retirement, she’d go to the theatre, read biographies of famous movie stars, and colour. She watched the news relentlessly and was often referred to as a ‘news addict’. A day was not complete without a tea and cookies. Many friends and co-workers will remember her from her long career at National Trust. Everyone who knew her will never forget her tenacity, wit, and determination. She was extremely loyal, and you had a friend for life if you were a friend of hers. Sincere thanks to the doctors, nurses and support staff at Scarborough General Hospital. In memory of Georgina, donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation at the link below, however, flowers are also welcome. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, there will be a private funeral service at Paul O’Connor Funeral Home on Friday, March 5th at 11:00 am. Online condolences can be placed below at "Add a Memory".
