John Joseph Leithwood

John is survived by his loving wife, Mary Leithwood. He was a cherished father to B.J. (Kelly) Leithwood, Michelle (Ryan) Acorn, and Nicole (Iran) Garcia Gonzalez. He was predeceased by his beloved son, Morgan Leithwood. John was an adored grandfather to Victoria, Caitlin, Emily, Aria and Hunter who brought him immense pride and joy.

John will also be missed by his sister in law, Cathie (Bruce) Comte and his close siblings, Donna (Rick) Rose, Dorothy (Reg) Boyer predeceased, Rob Leithwood, Lorretta (predeceased) Gary Bauer, Bonnie Leithwood, Patricia (Wayne) Jobe, Terry Leithwood, Tom Leithwood, and the many nieces and nephews.

John dedicated many years of service to the City of Toronto, working in Toronto Water. He took great pride in his work and formed lifelong friendships with all his colleagues, who meant so much to him.

John fought a courageous battle, and in the end, God called him to his eternal home. His strength, resilience, and faith will be remembered by all who knew and loved him.

The family extends a heartfelt thank you to the Odette Cancer Centre at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Center for the exceptional care and compassion shown to John.

Visitation will take place at Paul O'Connor Funeral Home, 1939 Lawrence Ave. E, Scarborough, ON, M1R2Y8, on Thursday, May 7, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm, and from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

A Funeral Mass will be held at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 131 Birchmount Rd, Toronto, ON, M1N 3J7, on Friday, May 8, 2026, at 10:00 am, followed by Committal Service at Christ the King Catholic Cemetery, 7770 Steeles Ave E, Markham, ON, L6B 1A8.

He will be deeply missed and forever loved.
