Lucia Del Grande

DEL GRANDE, Lucia (Lucy), in her 93rd year born September 12, 1932 peacefully passed away on June 18th, 2025 at the Cardinal Ambrozic Houses of Providence. Predeceased by husband Giuseppe (2000), parents Paolo Lobozzo and Elena Felicetta (Tamburro) and sister Giovannina (Caggianello). Devoted mother and mother-in-law of Michael and wife Beverly (Hills), Loreen and husband Chris Martino and Paul and wife Cora (Genovesi). Cherished nonna of John and Cheryl (Lopez), David and Kate (Dupuis), Andrew, Michael and Maryam (Kubba), Catherine and Bryceson (Dodge), Natalie and Eric (Mansell), Amanda and Lucas. Loving bisnonna of Milena, Marcus, Adelaide, Alexander and Liam. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends. She was among the first in her family in 1953 to immigrate to Toronto from her home town of Bovino, Foggia, Italy. Lucia earned a Hairdressing Certificate in 1965 and became a wig stylist for White’s Hair Goods of Toronto for over 20 years. Lucia had a great devotion to the Madonna di Valleverde and helped lead and organize celebrations, prayer groups at church and at her residence and in her home town of Bovino. She loved to sing at church and on the bus to religious trips locally and abroad. She enjoyed cooking and sharing baked goods with family, friends and neighbours. Her needlepoint was a labour of love and pride. Our sincerest thanks to the many caring staff at the Houses of Providence for their ongoing care and to her personal loving caregivers Mila Fernandez and Lenny Gil. Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 21st and Sunday, June 22nd from 4pm to 8pm at Paul O’Connor Funeral Home, 1939 Lawrence Avenue East, Scarborough. Funeral Mass will be on Monday, June 23rd at 9:30 am at St. Brigid’s Parish, 300 Wolverleigh Blvd., Toronto. Entombment at Holy Cross Mausoleum, 8361 Yonge St., Thornhill.
