It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Margreta Kristiansen, who died peacefully on January 3, 2025 at 8:00am at Scarborough General Hospital at the age of 52 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Margreta will be deeply missed by her ever-loving husband and soulmate of 26 years, Miguel, her devoted mother, Mary, her caring sister, Anne Marie (Paul), and her adoring nephew Johnny. Predeceased by her father Kai, Margreta leaves behind a wide circle of loved ones, friends, colleagues, and extended family who will forever remember her beautiful giving spirit, kindness, and grace.
Margreta grew up in Scarborough, excelling in swimming, dancing, and drama. In addition, she was known for her beautiful angelic singing voice. She enjoyed the yearly trips with her family to far-off places like England, Denmark and the Caribbean. Her absolute favourite vacations were the cruises.
After graduating from her college program in 1993, she began her career at The North York Performing Arts Centre (now The Meridian Arts Centre) first as an usher, then as a stage door receptionist, and most recently, as a venue security guard. Margreta was a loyal, highly esteemed and invaluable employee at the theatre for over thirty years.
At the age of 26, destiny struck at a mall arcade and Margreta met the love of her life, Miguel. They were inseparable right from the start. Throughout their years together, they loved going to Blue Jay games, vacationing in cottages on Georgian Bay, rocking out at 80’s bands’ concerts and just chilling on the couch watching TV. Their pure and unconditional love for each other was truly a wonder to behold.
The family extends their heartfelt thanks to all the doctors, nurses and care team at Scarborough General Hospital for their compassion and support.
Visitation for Margreta will be held on Friday, January 10th at Paul O’Connor Funeral Home, 1939 Lawrence Ave. E. Scarborough, ON M1R 2Y8 from 10:00am, until the time of the Service at 11:00am. Followed by her interment at Pine Hills Cemetery, 625 Birchmount Rd. Toronto, ON M1K 1R1.
Thank you to all who have reached out with their kind words of love and support.
Margreta will forever be in our hearts.
