Paul Graber
1933 - 2025
Paul left us peacefully, surrounded by his family on January 15th, 2025 at Michael Garron Hospital. He is remembered by children, Willy Graber (Sue) & Jo Anne (Anne ten Brink), and grandchildren, Oscar (Andree), Charlie, Hayley, Kevin (Taylor), Shannon, Janelle (Dane), and sister in law Liz Avison, brother in law Dick & Lois Avison, and sister Sondra and Jim Lortz. Also missed by Joey Kennedy, Jim, Nigel, Sandra and Uel, from Ballyclare, Northern Ireland, as well as many family members, cousins, rosarians and friends across the world. Paul shared joyful memories with everyone during his last weeks. We are grateful to the doctors, nurses and staff at Michael Garron, St Michaels and Providence Health and to Dr. Sam Louli (lifelong GP to the Grabers) - all the team helped give Paul comfort and a gentle passing from life.
Paul was born in Toronto, but grew up in Ballyclare, Northern Ireland. As a teenager he moved to London for six years and then he moved to Canada in 1957. After marrying Anne (nee) Avison they moved to Fairfax Crescent in 1962, growing a family, creating their magnificent rose garden and an extensive collection of books on roses. A plumber by trade, his passion was his house, woodworking in his beloved shop and his rose garden. Active since 1972 in the Canadian Rose Society, Paul served as President, judge (colour blind) and active life long member. Together he and Anne travelled extensively to rose conventions and gardens where they met many fellow rosarians from around the world. Anne, his loving wife of 58 years, passed in 2018.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January, 24, 2025 from 2pm - 4pm and 6pm - 8pm at Paul O’Connor Funeral Home, 1939 Lawrence Ave E (between Pharmacy & Warden) Scarborough.
A Celebration of Paul’s Life is planned for the weekend of February 7th - 9th, to be determined.
Plant a rose in your garden in honour of Paul and Anne.
