Robert John Ireland

Loving husband of Pauline (Boyle) and proud father of Ellen (Martin), Stephen (Brenda), Mary Louise and Anne. Grandpa (GrandBob) to Joe, Katy, Mark and Lydia Missio and Sarah, Rebecca and Stephanie Ireland.

Predeceased by parents Ida and Robert Ireland of Oshawa and his siblings Mary, Doris, Don and Joe.

Long-time educator, first with Oshawa Separate School Board and St Paul’s School, followed by Master at Stratford Teachers College and then a long career in curriculum leadership at TCDSB.

He authored many elementary school texts as well as novels for students and adults. He was a true life-long learner attending university part time beginning in 1959 and culminating in a Ph.D. in 1979.

In his retirement years, he enjoyed travelling with Pauline, golf, bridge and family gatherings. He was a long-time member of St. Rose of Lima Parish and volunteer with the Society of St. Vincent de Paul.

Visitation at Paul O’Connor Funeral Home, 1939 Lawrence Ave E, Scarborough on Tuesday April 25 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass at St. Rose of Lima Church, 3216 Lawrence Ave E., on Wednesday April 26 at 11:30 a.m. Interment and reception to follow at Christ the King Cemetery, 7770 Steeles Ave E, Markham.
