The world became a little less bright on Tuesday, April 7, 2026 with the passing of Angelo E. Mascia, a dedicated, generous and loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle and great uncle. Angelo was born on May 16, 1937 to Giuseppe and Carmela in his beloved town of Colle Sannita, Benevento in Italy. At the young age of 15, he emigrated from Italy to the United States with his parents and brother, Luigi. After graduating from Morris High School, he earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Farleigh Dickinson University in 1963 and then obtained a Master of Business Administration from the Graduate School of Business Administration of Fordham University in 1973. He was the first in his family to attend college and stressed the importance of obtaining an education to his son, grandsons and nephews.
Angelo was the Chief of Quality Assurance for the Defense Logistics Agency of the Department of Defense in the New York Region. As Chief of Quality Assurance he was in charge of overseeing a department comprised of more than 250 people responsible for insuring the production and quality control of the government’s most sophisticated and advanced weapons systems. Upon his retirement, he received the Meritorious Civilian Service Award from the Defense Logistics Agency, the highest award bestowed upon a civilian employee in recognition of his thirty years of dedicated service.
He was the most loving and caring husband to the one true love of his life, Luigia, to whom he was married to for 60 plus years, who he affectionately called “Cheri”, the most loving, dedicated and generous, father and grandfather to his son, Joseph, daughter-in-law, Catherine, and grandsons, Angelo, Joseph and Michael, whom he absolutely cherished and never missed one of their ballgames, and an affectionate and caring uncle to his nephews, Michele, Joey and Angelo, their families and to his great-niece and great-nephews and extended family.
Through their hard work and effort, Angelo and Luigia realized their American dream when they purchased their new home in the Beech Hill section of Yonkers in 1979 and together rebuilt his childhood home in Colle Sannita. He absolutely enjoyed holiday celebrations with family where he would play the accordion and gatherings with friends where he shared a glass (or two) of wine. He was passionate about his Napoli soccer team and of his “paesani” who he would always help whenever in need. Making wine with his family and cherished friends in his home meant the world to him. His sense of humor and wit brought laughter and a smile to all. His family will forever remember all of the life lessons he taught them.
The family will be present on Thursday, April 9 from 3 to 8 PM at Bennett Funeral Home in Scarsdale. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Annunciation Church in Crestwood on Friday April 10, 2026 at 10AM. Following the mass, Angelo will be laid to rest at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne.
Entombment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 10 W Stevens Ave, Hawthorne, New York 10532, on April 10, 2026, from 11:30 am to 11:45 am.
