

Anthony Scarcella Sr. passed away on Friday, May 21, 2021 at White Plains Hospital at 91-years-old. Mr. Scarcella was born on May 21, 1930 in Messina, Sicily to Antonino and Santa Scarcella and was the brother of Lina Trimarchi, Salvatore, Joseph, and Carmelo Scarcella. After leaving Sicily at 17-years-old, he ventured to Argentina and began working as a stonemason, attending school for architecture, and playing the clarinet in a band. Soon after, he made his way to Canada to join his late brothers Salvatore and Carmelo Scarcella and to work in the construction field. By the mid-50s, he moved to New York and met and married his late, beloved wife, Concetta Scarcella, on April 13, 1958 at Mount Carmel RC Church, Bronx, NY resulting in an inspirational 55-year-marriage. The two settled in Mount Vernon, NY, eventually moving to Scarsdale, NY. Concetta was the love of his life and he gave everything he had to her and their children.
Anthony is survived by his children: Anthony (Jeanne) Scarcella, Scarsdale, NY and Lucy (Nicholas) Barone, Mamaroneck, NY; much adored grandchildren Santina (Travis) Moran, Jamie (Kevin) Sheehan, Anthony, Catherine, Joseph, Elizabeth and Claire Scarcella and Kristen, Katarina and Hannah Barone; his great-granddaughter Chiara Concetta Moran; his sister-in-law, Josephine LaTorre, nephew and niece, Tino LaTorre and Christina (Craig) LaTorre-Nelson. Mr. Scarcella loved his faith and family, and he lived a life of selfless devotion and care for those around him. He had an adventurous spirit and was passionate about travel, gardening, animals, and cooking. He was a kind and incredibly generous patriarch, giving endlessly to those he loved.
Visitation will be held at Edwin L. Bennett Funeral Homes on Tuesday, May 25th from 4-7pm. Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, May 26th at 10am at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Scarsdale, NY. Entombment to follow at Gate Of Heaven Cemetery, Valhalla, NY.
