Carmine Cerino was born on March 25, 1925 in New York City to his beloved parents Sebastian and Josephine Cerino. He was raised on Beach Avenue in the Bronx with his sister Lucille. Carmine proudly served our nation for three years during World War II as a Seabee in the United States Navy in the Pacific Theater, with a rank of Yeoman Second Class. After the war, he graduated from Iona College and pursued a career in news reporting, starting as a General Assignment Reporter with the New York Mirror and rising to Color Photo Editor with the Associated Press. He married Theodora Connolly in 1975 and in 1981 the couple had two children, twins John and Elizabeth. In 2015, he was celebrated with other World War II veterans with an Honor Flight from Westchester County Airport to Washington, DC to thank them for their service. He was also honored for his service with a Proclamation from Westchester County Executive Robert P. Astorino. In 2016, he was blessed with a granddaughter, Olivia Grace. Carmine’s Catholic faith was a constant throughout every stage of his life. Growing up, he was a parishioner at Blessed Sacrament Church on Beach Avenue in the Bronx and for the final four decades of his life, he was a parishioner at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Scarsdale. He passed away on February 20, 2019 and leaves behind his wife Theodora; children John and Elizabeth (husband Jason); granddaughter Olivia Grace; sister Lucille; niece Karen (husband Bill); and nephews Richard (wife Kerri) and Thomas (wife Noemi). His family is grateful for the outpouring of prayers for Carmine from many family, friends and neighbors.

What a wonderful tribute to walk down memory lane with all these photos. When I think of Jack the first word that comes to mind is KINDNESS. Always so interested and sincere about what was going on in my life. A truly exceptional man whose legacy will live on in his children who emulate his grace and heart.

Dearest Uncle Jack,

It was a true pleasure growing up with you as my Uncle. You always made me feel loved , special and beautiful! My earliest memory of you was how proudly you walked me to IHM on the morning of my First Communion. We have always shared a special bond and your legacy will live on in my heart forever!

It brought much sorrow to receive a call to hear that Jack died. I had so many good times it's hard to pick. He was an encyclopedia of knowledge and a master at conversation. I will always remember the many, many picnic dinner in their back yard with John, Liz and Teddy.

I will miss you.

Godspeed Jack
