Clemente Machuca passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 2, 2025, at the age of 86. Born and raised in Guayaquil, Ecuador, Clemente brought his family to New York when he came to work as a translator at the United Nations. He served the UN for over 30 years with a dedication exceeded only by his devotion to his faith and his family. Clemente was preceded in death by his wife Emperatriz, and is survived by his children Juan, Maria (John Meli Jr.), and José (Jennifer), his grandson John Meli III, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins in Ecuador and the United States.
A visitation for Clemente will be held Friday, February 14, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Edwin L. Bennett Funeral Homes, 824 Scarsdale Ave, Scarsdale, NY 10583. A funeral mass will take place Saturday, February 15, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 11:45 AM at Immaculate Heart of Mary, 8 Carman Road, Scarsdale, NY 10583. A luncheon will follow the funeral mass.
