

Dolores Block DePaso, a long time Eastchester resident, passed away on January 2, 2012 at the age of 74. She was born on November 20, 1937, in the South Bronx, to Erna and Henry Block, immigrants from Bremen, Germany. When she was four years old, they moved to a home on Prospect Ave. in Mamaroneck. In 1948, her mother passed away and she went to live at The Wartburg Children's home until her father remarried. Her father passed away in 1968. She finished her schooling at Edison High School in Mt. Vernon where she studied to become a beautician. After graduating in 1955, Dolores worked in Rye where her customers included such famous patrons as Madame Alexander. She met Frederick DePaso in 1958 and they were married at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Scarsdale on January 3, 1960. Fred passed away in 1997. Dolores joined Grace Lutheran Church in Scarsdale in 1961 and has been an active member. She enjoyed being a long time member of the Scarsdale-Hartsdale Newcomers Club which she served as President in the 1980's and was active in their bowling league and English conversation group. She was also a member of the Echo Bay Yacht Club in New Rochelle from 1986-1993. She enjoyed reading, swimming and playing cards among other interests. Dolores is survived by her eldest son Frederick DePaso, Daughter-in-Law Kim and grandson Matthew, daughter Suzanne Gayle Soto, Son-in-Law Robert and granddaughter Sequoia, and son David DePaso. She is also survived by her twin brothers Ralph and Norman Block. Contributions in Dolores' memory may be made to Grace Lutheran Church, 59 Grand Blvd., Scarsdale, 10583.
Visitation Wednesday 2-4 & 7-9pm. Funeral Service Thursday 10am at Grace Lutheran Church. Interment Mount Calvary Cemetery.
