

Helen F. Bona of Eastchester, New York passed away on July 16, 2019.She was born on May 22, 1924 to Pasquale and Louise Fonzo of Mt.Vernon, New York. She became a nurse at Mt. Vernon Hospital and eventually became the Operating Room Nursing Supervisor there. She then became a teacher of
nursing and later became a school nurse in the Eastchester High School. After serving as a school nurse for almost 20 years, Helen became a teacher of Health Education at Eastchester High School and later in the Yonkers Public School system.
Helen lived in Eastchester for 64 years, and she enjoyed traveling with her husband Joseph, of 60 years, who predeceased her. She also enjoyed dancing and family gatherings. She enjoyed participating at the
Eastchester Senior Citizen Center at Lake Isle and particularly enjoyed mahjong and other games that are held there.She was a parishioner of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Scarsdale, New York for 64 years and a member of St. Veronica’s Guild.
She is predeceased by her two sisters, Margaret Fonzo and Therese Ruyack. She is survived by her sons James (Elvia), Thomas (Laura) and John (Jeanine). She is survived by 3 grandsons (Michael, Matthew and
Stephen) and 1 granddaughter (Kristen).Most of all she loved her family and instilled in her sons strong values that have served them well. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.
