Hortense M. Cataneo

The daughter of Alfred and Florence (Gardella) Widdows, she attended Yonkers public schools. Mrs. Cataneo worked at a variety of jobs, including employment with Anaconda wire, Otis Elevator, Peggy Ann’s, and Gimbels. She was a longtime employee of Macy’s department store in New Rochelle, working there from the day the store opened in 1967 until it closed in 1992.

She was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Carmine M. Cataneo, in 2006.

Mrs. Cataneo is survived by her children, Edward Petrizzo of Manchester, Conn.; Mary Ellen Cataneo of Montclair, NJ; and David Cataneo of Durham, NH; seven grandchildren, Marc Petrizzo, Lisa Perreault, Kim Boulette, Dacia Marszalek, Emily Cataneo, Chris McEwen, and James McEwen; five great grandchildren; and a brother, Robert Widdows, of Long Island.

Visiting Hours Monday 2-4 & 7-9pm. Mass of Christian Burial Tuesday 10am at Our Lady of Fatima Church in Scarsdale.
