Jim Elliott passed away unexpectedly on Monday, October 30 at the age of 62. A lifelong resident of Eastchester, NY he attended Rumsey Hall School, Tabor Academy, and Eastchester High School, where he was captain of the varsity ice hockey team in 1977.
Jim then began working for the Elliott Ticket Company in New York City, in logistics. Leaving his father’s business in 1988, he worked for various building and remodeling firms. The majority of his career was spent working for the Town of Tuckahoe, primarily in Public Works.
“He would do anything for any one,” was the best description of Jim. He was a fun-loving person who “worked hard, played hard.” He had a wonderful sense of humor and easily befriended people. A staunch New York Giants fan, he also loved ice hockey and was very proud of his youngest nephew, an All-State goalie in Connecticut.
During his younger years, he developed a love of the water while boating with his family. He would spend summer weekends in Watch Hill, RI and push his own boat which he named “Bahama Mama,” to its limit, either riding waves or blasting through them.
Jim was predeceased by his parents John and “Winkie” (Clare Brandi) Elliott. He is survived by his brother Frederic (Fred, of Darien, CT), three nephews, two aunts, two uncles and nine cousins.
A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 18th, 1:00 PM, at Saint James the Less (10 Church Lane) in Scarsdale NY.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Jim’s memory to the Eastchester Fire Department, 255 Main Street, Eastchester, NY 10709.
