

Born on March 18, 1941,in New York, NY, he was the son of Modesta and Anthony Pavia and the husband of Marlene Joan Pavia. Jim grew up in Queens, NY surrounded by a large extended Italian family. He was a proud 1957 graduate of Bryant High School. In 1962 he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served his country during the Vietnam War. After his military service, he graduated from Pace University in New York City with a degree in business adminsitration. He enjoyed a long, distinguished, and successful career in business sales and marketing. He began working for Johnson and Johnson selling medical equipment and supplies before moving to the wine and spirits industry with Hiram Walker and ending his career working in sales for General Motors and Ford.
Jim thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his family and was extremely proud of his children. He volunteered as a youth baseball coach in town, and was locally involved with the local Boy Scouts Troop in Crestwood. Jim was dedicated to his faith, sending his children to local Catholic schools, and was an active participant at Annunciation Parish for over 30 years. In his younger years he was an avid golfer, enjoyed hunting, and loved talking cars.
Anyone who met Jim could instantly see the enjoyment he had making connections to others. He always inquired about people’s backstories and personal histories. Jim loved people, was generous, and selfless, and would do absolutely anything to help someone who needed it.
In addition to his loving wife Marlene, James is survived by son Anthony and his wife Becky of Norwalk, CT and their daughter Mariana, and daughter Marie and her husband Jeancarlo Tello of Eastchester.
Friends may call Wednesday, Nov 15 from 3:30 to 7:00pm at Bennett Funeral Home, Scarsdale Ave, Scarsdale NY. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, November 16 at Annunciation Church in Crestwood at 9:45am. In lieu of flowers donations maybe made to the American Lung Association, the Padre Pio Foundation of American, and Annucication Church.
