Jeanne, as she was affectionately called by family and dear friends who loved her, was predeceased by her husband Michael L Tulp after 55 years of marriage in 2003. Theirs was a love story born at the end of WWII when Michael came home from serving in the Marines and met Jeanne and took her to a local haunt in their hometown of Tuckahoe, NY on a first date. She ordered a coke cola which she was sure he might try and spike if she left him alone at their table. She fell in love with him because he was such a gentleman. They raised their three children in the Woodstock NY area until IBM moved them to Charlotte, NC in 1978. They embraced the city and its southern charm, constantly raving about one of the South’s best kept secrets.
Her great adventure in life was their three year assignment in Taipei, Taiwan with IBM where she had the exciting opportunity to make many cherished friends from around the world and to travel extensively throughout Southeast Asia.
Jeanne was a people person who never met a stranger; always eager to learn your story while making you feel welcome. She was most proud of her time as a volunteer at the Charlotte Douglas International Airport as one of the first “Flag Me Down” volunteers. She would want to hear all about a traveler’s adventures and was the ultimate Good Will Ambassador for the City of Charlotte she loved.
Mrs. Tulp is survived by her three children – Tiffaney Tulp of Charlotte, NC, Kimberly Donovan of Myrtle Beach, SC, Michael Tulp and wife Kathryn of Falmouth, MA. Granddaughters, Jennifer Donovan of Aberdeen, Scotland, Kristin Tulp-Gregg and husband John of Frisco, TX and cherished Great Granddaughters, Juliette and Evangeline Gregg.
