John was born to the late Peter and Anastasia (Maher) Queenan who met in New York City after both immigrated from their beloved Ireland. John’s strong work ethic began with his mother and father, but grew to encompass his studies at New York University, his employment at Dollar Savings Bank, where he attained the position of Sr. Vice President, and at Lee Hecht Harrison, where he helped countless individuals during their life transitions to new roles and employment opportunities.
John was Chairman of the Board of Directors at Cardinal McCloskey Community Services, as well as a member of the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick, an organization he dearly loved being a part of. He also was a dedicated member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish in Scarsdale, NY, and was involved in many volunteer and fund-raising events.
John was blessed with a loving family. He married Jeanne (Driscoll), a fellow Dollar Savings Bank employee, and together they shared over 56 years of marriage. John and Jeanne have three daughters: Susan Bonanni, Eileen Queenan, and Maureen Auletta (m. Joseph Auletta).
John is survived by his loving wife, Jeanne, his daughters, his grandchildren Kyle Queenan (m. Hannah Eure Queenan), Connor Stefanski, Kaitlin Stefanski, Faith Auletta, JJ Auletta, and Evangeline Rose Auletta.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Cardinal McCloskey Community Services is greatly appreciated. www.cmcs.org
May the road rise to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
the rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again, until we meet again,
may God hold you in the palm of his hand.
Our Irish heritage has been instilled in us from an early age, so we would like to share this blessing with you:
In This House
We believe in living deeply
Laughing often and loving always.
We believe we were brought together
To support and care for each other.
We believe that everyone’s feelings count
And that the uniqueness of each of us
Strengthens all of us.
We believe in the power of forgiveness to heal
And the power of love to carry us through.
We believe in one another,
In this family,
In this house
Failte!
