Julia Keane (Judy) passed away peacefully at the age of 93 surrounded by family. Julia was born on December 28, 1931, in New York City, the daughter of Tom and Maggie Broderick. She was raised in New Rochelle, NY and graduated from St Gabriel's High School.
While a student at The College of New Rochelle, Judy enjoyed spending her summers working as a waitress in Rhode Island. She was lucky to travel often with her father, who worked as a travel agent. Judy met John Richard Keane on a blind date at Rye Playland, and the couple married on November 27, 1954. Together, they had seven children and built a beautiful life filled with love and devotion. Judy and Dick were recently honored at Saint Patrick’s Cathedral in New York City as one of the longest married couples in the archdiocese - a testament to the wonderful role models they were for their children. After their children were grown, Judy worked at Pace University in the registrar’s office. Judy and Dick were avid paddle and tennis players and longtime members of Fox Meadow Tennis Club. As devoted parishioners at Immaculate Heart of Mary, she and Dick made attending daily mass a cherished ritual. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren.
Judy is predeceased by her children, John Kevin Keane and Margaret Sardella; her parents, Thomas Augustus Broderick and Margaret Krush Broderick; and her siblings, John T. Broderick, Timothy K. Broderick, and Patricia B. Callan.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Dick, and her loving children: Kate Ryan (Tim) of Downingtown, PA; Patty Petrick (Jed) of Mount Kisco, NY; Tom Keane (Sue) of Ormond Beach, FL; James Keane (Teka) of Port Chester, NY; Gail Leone (Todd) of Scarsdale, NY; and John Sardella of Naples, FL. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Vera Broderick.
Judy was a proud grandmother to 18 grandchildren: Matt (Natalie), Dan (Ashly), Kiersten Britton (Steve), and Kailey Ryan; Katherine and Kevin Petrick; Christopher and Caroline Keane; Katie and Charlotte Keane; Todd (Melissa), Kimmy, Tim (Katie), Jeff (Tara), and Nick Leone; and Megan (Kirk), Harry, and Julia Sardella. She was also blessed with 13 great-grandchildren: Josie, Jack, Danny, Sam, Will, Adeline, Declan, James, Olivia, Luke, Sienna, Tommy, and Madison.
Services will be held at Bennett Funeral Home in Scarsdale from 3-7 pm on Monday March 24, 2025 and a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Scarsdale, NY on Tuesday March 25, 2025 at 10 am
