
Lawrence J. Farrell, a long-time resident of Eastchester, NY, passed away on March 28, 2012 after a long illness. He was the beloved husband of Lucy (nee Vaccaro) for 56 years, cherished father of Lawrence P., Luann, and John (Marilyn), and loving grandfather of Analee, Jake, and Nicholas. He is also survived by his brother Robert (Jill), cousin Sr. Gabrielle Corbally, in-laws Mary (Gerald) Connolly, Anthony (Anne) Vaccaro, and many nieces and nephews.
Lawrence was born on August 17, 1931 in The Bronx, NY to the late Louanna and Leo Farrell. He served in the US Navy during the Korean War as a radar operator on the USS Coral Sea and Franklin D. Roosevelt. He was employed as a printer at The Daily News for 35 years, where he won the Publishers Award for Excellence in 1987. A lifelong Yankees fan, he was the ultimate Mr. Fix-it, enjoyed golf, crossword puzzles, and gardening.
Visitation will be held at Edwin L Bennett Funeral Home, Scarsdale, NY on Tuesday, April 3 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Scarsdale, Wednesday, April 4 at 11 am. Interment to follow at Holy Mount Cemetery, Eastchester, NY.
