Louis Becchetti, 79 passed April 3, 2021 in Boca Raton, Florida.
His final days were spent with his children and friends by his side.
Louis was born July 5, 1941, Bronx, New York to Frank and Julia Becchetti. He attended Public School 96, and continued his education at Christopher Columbus High School in the Bronx.
Louis joined the United States Marines Corps in 1960 and served his country through 1967. During this time he met his bride to be, Mary Ann Maraglino.
Louis and Mary Ann wed in 1965 and were blessed with their son, Philip in 1968, followed by their daughter, Dana in 1971. The family resided on Van Cortlandt Park East in Woodlawn, for over 40 years.
Louis worked hard through out his lifetime, providing for his family. He retired in 2003 from the New York City Department of Environmental Protection, Hunts Point, NY as an Electrical Engineer. During his career, he also worked for the New York Yankees for many years. Being part of Yankee Baseball was very important to Louis and he made several friendships and connections along the way.
Shortly after retirement, Louis and his wife became “snow birds” in sunny and warm Boca Raton, Florida where they made a second home for almost 30 years. Louis enjoyed cooking, fishing, planting, fixing things, playing cards, sunning at the pool, spending time with family and friends, and most of all, being with his grandchildren, who affectionately called him Oulie. Louis often bounced from field to field watching his grandchildren play baseball, softball and hockey. Louis made an impact on all who encountered him. He had a heart of gold and would give anyone the shirt off his back if needed. He was selfless, generous, humble, and cared about everyone before himself. He is indeed a legend.
Louis is survived by his sister, Frances Torretta, his two children and their spouses, Philip and Angela, Dana and Anthony; and 4 grandchildren, Deanna, Jessica, Michael and AJ.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann Becchetti, 2007.
