Mai Lee Yue Hum was born on March 1, 1956 in Hong Kong. She immigrated to the United States at the age of 10 on May 26th, 1966. She grew up in Boston, MA, and went to college at Brandeis University. In 1982 she married Chi Hum with whom she had three children: Christine (34), Gregory (28), and Nicholas (27). She raised her family in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, as well as in Long Island and Westchester in New York.
Mai had the gift to walk into any room and make everyone feel welcome. Her warm smile and stories could bring people together and put you at ease. She was curious about the world around her. Her curiosity led her to travel and explore new cultures, meet new people, and taste new foods, especially by the ocean. She was also a nurturing and caring mother, wife, and social butterfly. Throughout her life she was a devout Christian who always put others first.
She loved by sharing. She who would listen to anyone’s story and always seeked to help anyone she could within her power, and cared deeply about helping underserved people.
