Maki will be terribly missed by her two sisters, Ines and Maria, her brothers-in-law, Kevin and Chip. Along with her nephew Brian (Courtney) and nieces Alina, Amanda (Matt) and Gabrielle (Nadov) and great nieces and nephews. Dylan, Taylor, Luke, Kevin and Kate whom she loved tremendously. Our sole consolation is she is finally at rest with her mother, Ines and father, Alberto.
Born in Havana, Cuba Maki came to this country in 1961 with her parents and sister Ines, and lived in Miami, Florida until 2018. Born deaf/mute Maki overcame numerous hardships and difficulties but graduated at the top of her class in high school and received a scholarship to Gallaudet University.
Maki enjoyed board games, hook and latch kits, painting, ceramics and of course ALL cats! Her greatest gift was her infectious smile and the ability to see the good in all people and things. Her kind, gentle soul helped teach us the true meaning of compassion, strength and bravery.
Maki was love, and anyone who was fortunate to have met her knew they were in the presence of an angel who left you a better person. We were blessed to have her in our lives and though it was too short, her impact will be deeply rooted in our hearts.
A wake will be held at Edwin L. Bennett Funeral Homes on Wednesday 16th from 5-8.
