

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Maria Catino, a cherished mother, grandmother, and businesswoman, who passed away on Friday, October 17th. Maria was a remarkable woman known for her strength, perseverance, and boundless love, leaving a lasting impact on everyone she knew.
Maria was born on October 27th, 1942, in Boston, MA, to Fred and Frances (Stalling) Catino. She attended Medford High School in Medford, MA, where she raised her family before relocating to Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Maria spent her summers with family at Sebago Lake in Maine.
Maria was a tireless go-getter who achieved great success in real estate and other ventures. She approached life with unshakable determination and relentless drive, always inspiring others to aim higher and persevere. Above all, Maria’s greatest love was her family. She is survived by her children: Kelley Thorne, William Thorne, and Tina Thorne, who were the lights of her life. She is also survived by her son-in-law, Douglas Losordo, daughter-in-law, Lori Kelley—whom she treated as her own—her two nieces, Holly (Mouradian) McMahon and Liane Mouradian, and her beloved grandchildren: Luke and Sophia Losordo, and Brady, Christian, and Ali Thorne.
She was preceded in death by her beloved sister, Andrea Mouradian, with whom she shared a deep bond. They spent every holiday and many vacations together and especially cherished their summers at Point Sebago in Maine.
Maria’s strength as a mother was unmatched. She devoted herself to her family, always offering guidance, support, and unconditional love. Her children and grandchildren will forever carry with them the lessons of perseverance, kindness, and the importance of family that she instilled in them.
A woman who faced every challenge with grace and resilience, Maria will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know her. Her spirit will live on in the lives she touched, inspiring all who had the privilege of calling her a mother, grandmother, friend, and colleague.
The funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, October 22nd, at St. Pius X Church in Scarsdale, NY. Arrangements are being handled by Edwin L. Bennett Funeral Home in Scarsdale, NY.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made in Maria’s honor to the Alzheimer’s Association.
