Mary Fois of Eastchester died peacefully on March 18, 2018 at the age of 82. “Mrs. Fois” was a beloved teacher, first in Brooklyn where she met the love of her life and husband of 55 years, the late Bob Fois, and then at Immaculate Heart of Mary School in Scarsdale where she taught for nearly 40 years. Prior to teaching, Mary had worked in the newsroom of the Wall Street Journal, something she took great pride in. To her children and students alike, she imparted a love of learning; whether it was writing or drama or science or math. A voracious reader all of her life, Mary was a regular at the local library. She especially enjoyed traveling with her husband, and preparing for those trips, first throughout the United States and then to nearly 30 countries. Mary was a parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima in Yonkers. Predeceased by her husband, her parents Helen and Thomas, and beloved niece Veronica, and survived by her children; Bobby, Mark, Laura, and Michael; grandchildren Stephanie, Daniella, Grace; brother Tom; sister Ilene; sister-in-law Florence, nephew Michael and niece Jennifer, and great-aunt to 7 grand-nieces & nephews, including our cousins Elie, Benjamin, and Lea.
