Nora Murphy

Nora Murphy (nee, O'Sullivan), aged 96, of Hartsdale, N.Y. died peacefully March 27, 2017 surrounded by her loving family and caring staff at Calvary Hospital in The Bronx, New York. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John J. Murphy, Sr., also of Cork City, Ireland. Nora was born October 4, 1920 in Cork City, Ireland to her cherished parents the late Cornelius and Hannah O'Sullivan (nee, Tuckey). She was the very much loved mother of Ann Murphy Vega (Hartsdale, N.Y.), and John J. Murphy, Jr, (New Rochelle, N.Y.), She will be sorrowfully missed by her loving Son-In-Law, John Vega (Hartsdale, N.Y.), and her cherished grandchildren; Kevin Vega (Zurich, Switzerland), Brian Vega (Arlington, VA), Kathleen Vega (Hartsdale, N.Y.) and Michelle Vega (Hartsdale, N.Y.), Nora was preceded in death by her beloved brothers and sisters: Connie O'Sullivan; Paddy O'Sullivan; Dinny O'Sullivan; Teddy O'Sullivan; Hughie O'Sullivan; Lizzie Moynihan; Mary Molloy; and Kitty O'Callaghan. She will also sorrowfully be missed by her loving nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews, sister-in-law Martha, and by all those who came to know and love her.

Visitation will be held on Friday March 31, 217 from 4-8 pm at Edwin L., Bennett Funeral Home 824 Scarsdale Avenue, Scarsdale, N.Y. 10583 (914)725-1137. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday April 1,2017 at 10am at Sacred Heart Church 11 Lawton Avenue, Hartsdale, N.Y. 10530, Interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Valhalla,
