Patricia Frances MacDonald, aged 82, died on Friday, May 7th, 2021. She was born in Manhattan on March 17, 1939, to Francis (Frank) and Frances Hynes. She was raised in the Parkchester section of the Bronx, attended Saint Helena’s elementary school and the Sacred Heart of Mary Academy high school. She graduated with a degree in Education from Albertus Magnus College, a Masters in Education from Hunter College, as well as a Masters in Special Education from Manhattanville College. She began her teaching career in Pleasantville, took time off to raise a family, and returned to teaching in the New York City Department of Education. She loved being a teacher and particularly enjoyed sharing stories about her entertaining students, co-workers, and experiences.

She was the beloved wife of the late Donald J. MacDonald; whom together enjoyed over 50 years of marriage. She is survived by her daughter Maura (John) of Bronxville, NY, and her son Robert (Bobby) of Cortlandt Manor, NY. She adored her five granddaughters, Caitlin and Meghan (Maura), and Emily, Sarah and Jenna (Bobby).

Our mother’s greatest enjoyment was being around family and friends. She enjoyed many years traveling the world with her husband Donald. She treasured her summers in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia as well as many winters in St. Petersburg, Florida. Always one for a party, her favorite holiday was St. Patrick's Day, her birthday. She loved watching and attending the St. Patrick’s Day parade and gathering with family and friends. She will be greatly missed yet fondly remembered for her sense of humor, devout faith, and love of life.

Visitation will be at Edwin L. Bennett Funeral Home, 824 Scarsdale Avenue, Scarsdale, NY on Monday, May 10th from 4-7pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Annunciation Church, 470 Westchester Avenue, Crestwood, NY, on Tuesday, May 11th at 10am. Bobby and Maura and families:

Pat and Donald were two of our closest friends. We truly looked forward to spending time with them in Boisdale, Sydney, Florida and New York. Your mom was a grand lady who enjoyed life every day and was kind and respectful to every person she met. She loved her children and grand-children above all else and kept us up-to-date with all the latest news about the family. Some of the favourite things we enjoyed together were music (particularly Irish), friends, the Catholic faith and Boisdale sunsets. She was a joy every time we were together. People like her are precious in this world. We are sure that she and Donald are waltzing to heavenly music today!! We will truly miss her. Our love and prayers go out to all of you. Pat and Sissy
