Robert T. McPhillips

Robert T. McPhillips passed away on July 24, 2019 at the age of 63. Bob was born on November 27, 1955 to Thomas Joseph McPhillips and Joan Carol Terry McPhillips in Yonkers, New York. He graduated from Colgate University in 1977 with a bachelor’s degree in English, where he was a member of Phi Beta Kappa, and from the University of Minnesota in 1987 with a PhD in English. Bob taught humanities, literature and composition as an adjunct professor at Iona College for over 30 years. He loved literature, poetry, opera, tennis, cooking and swimming. He was predeceased by his father and his sister, Carol Whitenight. He is survived by his mother, his brother Thomas McPhillips and his wife Christine McPhillips, his sister Susan McPhillips, his brother-in-law Jesse Whitenight, and by his nieces and nephews Jesseca Whitenight, Devin Toledo, Caitlin Whitenight, Luke Whitenight, Liam McPhillips, Aidan McPhillips and Caroline McPhillips. He is also survived by his two great nieces, Lily and Gracie Eisenhauer, his aunt and uncle, Thomas and Barbara Terry, and his cousins, Thomas, Brian and Barbara Jean Terry. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Rosary Hill Home in Hawthorne, New York or to a charity of your choice. A funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, July 30, 2019 at 11 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Scarsdale, New York. Visitation Monday July 29, 2019 from 4-7 PM at the Edwin L. Bennett Funeral Homes 824 Scarsdale Ave Scarsdale NY. Interment St. Joseph's Cemetery Yonkers NY.
