William Anthony Quigley was called to God on September 1st, 2023. He was preceded in death by his wife Barbara Ann Kellard Quigley, his parents Felix and Bernice Quigley, his brothers Pete,
Jack, George, and his sister Tessie. William, more fondly known as Bill, Willy Monk and Quig was born on December 20th, 1939, in New Rochelle, New York. He had a passion and appreciaton for New Rochelle and the community in which he grew up and raised his children. Bill was a student at New Rochelle Public Schools and spoke fondly of Isaac E. Young. Earlier in his life, he worked at TerryToons, Neptune Moving Company and later became a department head of phlebotomy at New Rochelle Hospital. In his retirement, he worked as a travel agent and volunteered at several hospitals.
Bill was truly one of a kind. He touched the hearts of everyone he met through his humor, fantastic “Irish” memory, and intimidating yet gentle presence. Bill had a very strong Catholic faith and was dedicated to his beliefs. His family was everything to him and he took such pride in the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren, whom he loved deeply and fully. Bill is best known for his love of black coffee, traveling, New York City, classical films his favorite being Gone with the Wind, and Broadway shows. Bill would constantly share vivid memories of his upbringing and past experiences which were enjoyed by all. Despite facing life’s many obstacles, he overcame adversity with determination which changed the course of his life. Bill accomplished so much including a\ending the Academy Awards and various film and theatric acknowledgments.
Survived by his three children Barbara Ann (Maureen), Kathryn, and Gregory (Dawn) and his brother, Pat. Treasured Poppy/Papa to his six grandchildren Samantha, Thomas, Lexington, Tyler, Mckenzie, and Ava. He was also loved by his grand-pups, Quincy, Norman, and Billie. A visitation for William will be held on Monday, September 4th, 2023, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Edwin L. Bennett Funeral Homes, 824 Scarsdale Ave, Scarsdale, NY 10583. A funeral mass will be held to honor his life on Tuesday, September 5th, 2023, from 10:30 AM to 11:15 AM at Blessed Sacrament Church located in New Rochelle, NY 10805.
