Alfred T. Rhodes

Alfred T. Rhodes, 66, of Lebanon, PA, died Saturday, June 20, 2015 in the Good Samaritan Hospital, Lebanon. He was the husband of Donna L. Williams Rhodes. The couple would have celebrated 47 years of marriage in September of this year. He was born in Pottsville on August 26, 1948, a son of Anna Lapotta Rhodes Schular and the late Alfred Dewey Rhodes. Alfred was employed as a truck driver for AAA Trucking and retired from ABF Freight. He earned the two million miles Safe Driver Award for driving without an accident. He was a 1966 graduate of Blue Mountain High School. He was a member of Teamsters Union and followed the Philadelphia Eagles and Penn State football. He loved trains and had many train sets and antique toy trucks. He enjoyed watching the Memorial Day Services in Washington DC on television and listening to the Oldies. Surviving in addition to his wife are children, Robin L. Rhodes and fiancé Carl Bucher of Schaefferstown; Lance B. Rhodes and wife Jennifer of Myerstown; Shannon L. Hartranft and husband Slade of Richland; two grandsons, Landon Rhodes and Drexton Hartranft; sisters, Marilyn Adams and husband John of Emmaus; Ginger Ebling and husband Elmer of Cressona; nieces, nephews and cousins. Memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 27th at 10:00 AM in the Clauser Funeral Home, N. Carpenter St., Schaefferstown, PA, with a visitation beginning on Saturday at 9:00 AM. Interment will be in the Schuylkill Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
