Betty Louise Weik

Betty Louise Weik, 85, formerly of Newmanstown, passed away on Thursday, March 22, 2018 in Cornwall Manor, Cornwall, PA. She was the wife of the late Ralph L. Weik. She was born in Lebanon on February 15, 1933, a daughter of the late Elmer and Helen Zimmerman Weik. Betty Lou earned her teaching degree from Millersville State College. She started the first Kindergarten program by teaching 14 students at her home in Newmanstown. Later she taught in the ELCO Elementary Schools (Newmanstown and Fort Zeller) until her retirement. She was active with the ELCO Bike A Thon. As a member of the Millcreek Lutheran Church, she was a council member for many years, taught Sunday School, formed the first Cherub Choir and was involved with their Relay for Life team. She was a member of the Millcreek Alumni Association helping design and build floats for the Halloween Parade. Betty Lou volunteered with the Black Diamond Regiment Drum Corps and Pioneer Scouts Drum Corps. She was also known for baking delicious chocolate chip cookies. She is survived by children, Julie Holt and husband Jeffrey of Lebanon; Robert Weik of Newmanstown; grandchildren, Jessica Shepler, Jenna Heagy, Seth Kreiser, Kate Antal, Liz Fredrick and Joshua Holt; six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Lora Keppley, sister, Bernice Stities and brother, Clair Zimmerman. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 29, 2018 at 11 AM in Millcreek Lutheran Church, 221 N. Sheridan Road, Newmanstown, PA 17073, with a viewing beginning on Thursday at 10 AM. Interment will be made in Millcreek Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Millcreek Lutheran Church Relay for Life or American Cancer Society, 855 Tuck Street, Suite 2, Lebanon, PA 17042. Clauser Funeral Home, Inc. is handling her arrangements.
