

Elizabeth Brandt Myer, age 91, passed away surrounded by loved ones in the Reading Hospital on April 20, 2023. She was born at home in Heilmandale, North Lebanon Township on February 1, 1932, to the late Daniel B. and Sarah Meyer Brandt.
She graduated from Lebanon High School in 1949. She studied Home Economics at Messiah College under a furloughed missionary, and she was the first Home Economics student at the college. She then transferred to Juniata College, where she graduated with a degree in Home Economics in 1953. Her senior project was a navy-blue suit, which she has chosen to be buried in. She subsequently taught for 40 years at public schools in Spring Grove, SoLanCo (Quarryville) and Lebanon Junior High School.
She married J. Robert Myer on April 3, 1955, in her home church in Ebenezer, PA. They were married for almost 33 years, until his death in 1988. They bought their farm in Womelsdorf in 1961 where she lived until 2021, when she went to live with her son, Tom, and his wife, Sherri.
She was an active member at the Richland Church of the Brethren for 61 years, serving as a Sunday School teacher, Rejoice Club coach, a member of the Women’s Fellowship, and a knotter with the Quilting Ladies.
Elizabeth had a love for traveling which she passed on to her daughters. Upon graduation from college, she and her sister, Sarah, sailed on the RMS Queen Elizabeth to Europe. They were in London shortly after the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II. She enjoyed traveling all over Europe, and when she got home, she decided that she needed to see the United States. Over the years, she and Sarah visited all 48 contiguous states.
Elizabeth is survived by daughters, Rosalie, wife of Randy Martin,
Mary Lou, widow of the late Rodney Minor, and Sherri, widow of the late Thomas Myer, Elizabeth’s only son who preceded her in death by 75 days.
She has 7 grandchildren, Kelli Lugo, wife of Mike, John Myer, husband of Sarah, Adrienne Clause, wife of Kevin, Allison Dubble, wife of Chris, Trisha Landis, wife of Chad, Liz Martin, fiancé of Isaac Killian and Ashley Halligan. She also has 7 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild on the way, as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Alfred Brandt, Sr., Adam Brandt, and her sisters, Rosanna Slayton and Sarah McKay.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral service at the Richland Church of the Brethren at 215 South Race Street, Richland, on Saturday, April 29. The viewing will be held from 9:30 to 11:00. The service will begin at 11:00, followed immediately by a luncheon in the Fellowship Hall.
The internment will be held at the GrandView Memorial Park in Annville on Monday, May 1 at 2:00. Everyone is welcomed.
