Ellwood C Noll Jr.

Ellwood C. Noll, Jr., 67, of Schaefferstown, PA, passed away Saturday, Feb. 14, 2015 in the Good Samaritan Hospital, Lebanon, PA following a 4 year battle with cancer. He was the husband of Janet E. Hess Noll, with whom he was married for 41 years. He was born in Lebanon on March 4, 1947, a son of the late Ellwood C. Noll, Sr. and Geraldine Carpenter Noll. Ellwood earned a bachelor’s degree from Penn State University and then served in the U. S. Navy during the Vietnam War. Following his military service he was then appointed to the Pennsylvania State Police Academy. Upon graduation from the academy he served as a Pennsylvania state trooper for 25 years. After retirement from the state police, he served as Chief of Police in Heidelberg Township for 13 years. Ellwood was a member of the Hopeland United Methodist Church, life member of the Richland American Legion Post 880, and a member of Mt. Lebanon Masonic Lodge #226 F&AM. He coached many sports teams for the Heidelberg Township Recreation Assoc. youth program and was a church council member at St. Paul’s UCC in Schaefferstown for many years. Ellwood loved the outdoors, especially hunting. Surviving in addition to his wife, are children Keith C. husband of Heather Noll, Newmanstown; Erin L. wife of Brian Marquette, Schaefferstown; Abby L. Noll and companion Rafael Medina of Schaefferstown; grandchildren Camden, Meredith, Jevan, Megyn, and Larsyn, and brother Robert C. husband of Toni Noll of Lebanon. Funeral services will be held on Friday, Feb. 20 at 10:30 AM from St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, 1304 Heidelberg Avenue, Schaefferstown. Interment will be held in the Schaefferstown Cemetery with military honors. Viewing will be held Thursday from 5 - 8 PM and Friday from 9:30 - 10:30 AM at the church. A Masonic service will be conducted by Mt. Lebanon Lodge #226 on Thursday at 4:45 PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to Schaefferstown Ambulance Assoc., P. O.
