George A. Sechrist, 94, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 24, 2026. He was born on August 30, 1932, in Schaefferstown, a son of the late Milton and Elsie (Keller) Sechrist. In 1951, he married Mary Jane Yeakel. They shared 69 years of marriage before she sadly preceded him in death.
George worked in sales for A. G. Kurtz and Sons, from which he officially retired. He would continue to work as a concrete inspector for Steffy Concrete Inc. He was a life member of the Marion Township Rod and Gun Club and was a member of the Lebanon County Builders Association. In his free time, he enjoyed deer hunting, golfing with his friends on the local fairways and was a gifted woodworker. He loved to work with his hands and crafted a wide variety of treasures, from baskets to holiday decorations, with which he would decorate his yard according to season, to the delight of his family.
He is survived by his children, Karl L. Sechrist of FL; George A. (Robin) Sechrist of Lebanon and Linda Y. (Doug) Hoffman of Myerstown; granddaughters, Jessica, Lindsay, Shelby; grandsons, Erik, Marc and Seth; eight beloved great grandchildren; and his brother, Ed Sechrist, whose friendship he cherished deeply.
Preceding him in death are his parents, Milton and Elsie; his wife, Mary; brothers, Jonas, Leroy, David and Donald; and his sister, Lucille.
Services for George will be held on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, at 6:30 pm, with visitation beginning at 5:00 pm until time of service, in Clauser Funeral Home, 116 N. Carpenter St., Schaefferstown. A private interment will follow at the family’s convenience.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Wellspan Good Samaritan Hospice, 1503 Quentin Rd., Lebanon, PA 17042.
