Gregory Lynn Trump

November 23, 1958November 4, 2020

Gregory Lynn Trump, 61, passed away Wednesday, November 4, 2020 in Newmanstown, PA. He was born in Ephrata, PA on November 23, 1958; son of Richard Trump and Ramona Wilkins Trump. Greg was a dedicated and longstanding member of Saint Paul’s United Church of Christ in Schaefferstown. He had a contagious laugh that naturally raised the spirits of those around him. Coupled with his love of Christ and easy-going demeanor, it was always a joy to have him in your presence. Greg’s favorite pastime was playing his banjo. His talents and love for bluegrass music were honed at a young age as a member of the Trump Family Bluegrass Band. They traveled up and down the east coast delighting crowds at festivals and shows. As an avid outdoorsman, you could regularly find Greg hiking, camping, or casting a lure with close friends or grandchildren. He also took pleasure in tinkering around the home and brewing beer and wine. As a little boy, Greg was lovingly referred to as “Grasshopper” by his Pop with whom he shared an exceptional relationship. He passed down the extraordinary love from his grandfather to his own children and grandchildren. His legacy of love and kindness will be infinitely cherished. Gregory is survived, dearly loved and sorely missed by his wife, Deborah; daughters, Robin Forney and Becky Thiry (husband Jason); stepdaughter, Shane Layser; parents, Richard Trump and Ramona Wilkins Trump; and brothers, Wesley Trump and Nick Trump (wife Victoria). Gregory was a proud “Pop Trump” to six grandchildren whom he deeply cherished: Jarrett and Gavin Forney, Emily and Bryson Thiry, and Elainna and Drayson Layser. We are so proud to call him our husband, dad, son, brother, pop, and friend. He will always be with us. Please join the family for a viewing on Thursday, November 12, 2020 from 1:00 pm-3:00 pm at Saint Paul’s United Church of Christ, 1304 Heidelberg Avenue, Schaefferstown, PA 17088. It is so sad to lose another classmate. Especially one I knew since grade school. I lost touch with Greg years ago, but I’ll never forget his good nature and sweet smile. He was obviously a family man and I enjoyed seeing all the pictures today. May he Rest In Peace. Thank you to the family for the CD

So sorry to hear about the lost. I was fortunate to have known Greg for many years and spent time with him not only at work but Riding motorcycle, working out at the gym Running and sharing a good laugh. He always took the time to ask about everyone's interests even if not his own. He will forever be on our memories.

My heart is saddened to learn of the passing of our dear friend Greg. Just last month we shared a wonderful meal and laughter during our evening together. Even though we didn't always get together with you and Deb as much as we should have . We could always pick right up where we left off with stories of what was going on in our lives.
What a genuine caring human being you were and we will truly miss you, till we see you again in our heavenly Father's house.

My best memory of Greg was while we were both serving on the church counsel of St. Paul’s UCC. It was around this time of year about 10 years ago, Greg had grown a beard for winter and I told him I had “beard envy “. You see I played Santa Clause during the Christmas season and I had to wear a fake beard to do so. Even though I have had a beard since high school, I was never able to grow a beard that was worthy of Santa. That year Greg had the most beautiful beard. It was long, wavy and soft, most definitely Santa worthy. Bless you Greg Trump and I look forward to seeing you again in our heavenly home.
