

James F. Keener, Jr., 86, of Schaefferstown, PA, died Monday, March 12, 2012 in his home. He was the husband of Dawn D. Miller Keener with whom he was married to for 53 years. He was born in Schaefferstown on May 10, 1925, a son of the late James F. and Laura Miller Keener. He was a retired employee of RCA in Lancaster with 22 years of service and his prior employment was for Burt D. Webber as parts manager in Schaefferstown. He served in the US Navy during World War II. James was a member of the St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Schaefferstown; United States Navy Memorial, Navy Club Ship 91 of Lebanon, US Naval Institute; Richland American Legion, Post 880; Schaefferstown Volunteer Fire Co. #1 where he served as Fire Chief for 30 years. Surviving in addition to his wife are brothers, Jay husband of Arlene Keener of Schaefferstown; Elton husband of Rita Keener of Richland; sister, Myrle wife of Robert Burnside of VA. He was preceded in death by a brother, Louis Keener and sister, Ethel Kreiser. Funeral service will be held on Thursday at 11:00 AM in the Clauser Funeral Home, N. Carpenter St., Schaefferstown with a viewing beginning on Thursday at 10:00 AM. Interment will be made in the Schaefferstown Cemetery.
