Mildred M. Hammar, 92, formerly of Myerstown, passed away on Tuesday, December 18, 2018 in Stoneridge Towne Centre, Myerstown. She was the wife of the late Richard S. Hammar who died January 1994. She was born in Myerstown on December 13, 1926, a daughter of the late Wayne and Helen Reich Heffelfinger. She was employed as a bookkeeper for Ervin Sherk Electrician for many years and a graduate of Myerstown High School. Mildred worshipped in the United Church of Christ faith, enjoyed reading, playing the organ, scrabble and spending time with her family. She was an avid sports fan, especially following the Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles. She is survived by a daughter, Jo Ann Swingholm and husband Charles M. of Richland; grandchildren, Stacie Dreibelbis and husband Cory; Andrew Swingholm and wife Lindie; great grandchildren, Casey, Cody, Jared, Siearra, Natalie and Skyler; sister, Grace Fake of Myerstown; 8 nieces. She was preceded in death by a sister, Anna DiJohnson. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 26, 2018 at 11 am in the Tulpehocken United Church of Christ, 961 Tulpehocken Road, Richland, PA, with a viewing beginning on Wednesday at 10 am. Interment will be made in the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
