Paul Adam Eberly

Paul Adam Eberly, 94, of Kleinfeltersville, PA, died on Tuesday, November 12, 2013 in the Good Samaritan Hospital, Lebanon. He was the husband of the late Ferne R. Shellhamer Eberly who passed away November 12, 2005 after 59 years of marriage. He was born in Newmanstown, Lebanon County on November 30, 1918, a son of the late Ralph and Eudora Weik Eberly. He was a member of the St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Millbach. Paul graduated from West Chester University (Class of 1940) with a degree in Physical Education and Science. He taught two years of high school before enlisting in the Navy. He served in the United States Navy/Naval Reserve from 1942 to 1968, retiring as a Commander. He was employed over 25 years as a physical therapist at the Lebanon VA Medical and enjoyed farming and raising sheep. Surviving are sons, Patrick husband of Donetta Eberly and Michael husband of Anna Mae Eberly both of Myerstown; Steven husband of Nancy Eberly of Centre Hall, PA; eight grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; brothers, Hugh Eberly and Reau Eberly both of Newmanstown; Bruce Eberly of Chesterfield, VA; sisters, Eugenia Shue of Palmyra; Juliette Gruber of Lincoln Park; Joann Gutshall of Reinholds. He was preceded in death by brothers, Alan, Curt, Ralph and Harold Eberly. Funeral service will be held on Saturday at 11:00 AM in the St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, 13 Church Road, Newmanstown, PA, with a viewing beginning on Saturday at 10:00 AM. Interment will be made in the adjoining church cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in his memory to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 1274, Lebanon, PA 17042.
