"Suzie" Susan Catherine Zimmerman, 83, passed away on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, comforted by the presence of her loving family and dear friends. She was born on September 26, 1942, in Wheeling, West Virginia; a daughter of the late Roger Clement and Julia (Jackson) Smith.
In 1965, Suzie married the love of her life, Pastor George D. Zimmerman.
Suzie was an active member of Calvary Church, where she supported her late husband’s ministry. Together they cofounded the Practical Compassion Charity for Haiti, where Suzie served as a board member. She was a compassionate and devoted teacher, working for many years at the Jack & Jill preschool. In her free time, she loved to travel, quilt and needlepoint. She was also a prodigious collector of fine children’s books.
Left to cherish her memory are her three daughters, Julianne (Rick Forzese) Zimmerman, “Joey” Jolynne (Steve) Shannon and Janelle (Aaron) Johnson; grandchildren, Paige (Nick) Peffley, Tristan Johnson, Micah Johnson, Ethan Johnson and Dillon Forzese; a great grandchild, Eliana Peffley; sisters, Peg (Mark) Henery and Rebecca (Michael) Farrell; and chosen family, Diana (Stephan) Bihoreau and Jodi (Clark) Sheaffer.
Suzie was preceded in death by her parents, Roger and Julia; husband, George; and a brother, David Smith.
