Walter “Poss” Carpenter, Jr., 82, of Waldeck, died Thursday, May 12, 2011 in his daughter’s home. He was the husband of Julia Hozella Carpenter with whom he was married to for 62 years. He was born June 7, 1928 in Lebanon a son of late Walter and Katherine Wolfe Carpenter. Poss was owner of the former Mt. Trail Meat Market in Waldeck for 27 years. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Lebanon and the St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Schaefferstown. He loved antiquing, hunting and reading. Surviving in addition to his wife are daughter, Sharon wife of James Horst of Schaefferstown; grandchildren, James J. Horst of Schaefferstown; Dr. Julie Horst of Erie; Andrew Carpenter of Waldeck and a sister, Nellie Shutter of Palmyra. He was preceded in death by a son, Ronald Carpenter and sister, Peggy Brandt. Services will be held at the convenience of the family. Clauser Funeral Home, Inc. of Schaefferstown is handling his arrangements.
