A tribute to a selfless man who fought a tough battle with illness until September 10, 2013, when he was reunited in Heaven with his parents, George and Marion Ginder; brothers Pete, Bob and Jim; and numerous in laws and friends. Ed has been loved and cared for by his wife of 55 years, Bertha J. Boyer Ginder. Living in Schaefferstown, they raised three children; two daughters, Pam, wife of Glenn Harnish of Lititz; and Anita, wife of Bruce Shanaman of Annville; and a son, Doug who has a lovely girlfriend, Erin of Schaefferstown. His joy was evident in his love for his family. His warmth and happy spirit saturated the lives of his children and grandchildren; Kristin, Tyler, Nathan, Jill, Steven and Cyrenne. His three year old great-granddaughter, Stella, has already inherited his strong will and lovely personality, and she clearly understands “who’s the boss and who’s the baby” (a game Ed played with all of the grandchildren and his great granddaughter). Ed’s surviving sister, Marilyn, and brother, Butch, along with numerous in-laws, continued to support, laugh with, and create many lasting memories up until the day of his death. Ed worked for 32 years as a miner at Cornwall, and for Bethlehem Steel, and Cornwall Manor. He served our Country during the Korean conflict, as a military police in the Army. Ed loved life, and some of his best times were spent; singing bass to a good old Hymn; time spent at the Waterworks; sitting around a campfire at Laban’s Haven; but mostly, being anywhere in the presence of family. The family wishes to thank the many family, friends and pastoral care who have provided love and support during these last two years. Hospice is a wonderful blessing, and we couldn’t have managed to keep Ed in the home he loved so, without the dedicated nurses, social workers and music therapists. A true hero in how to live a full and passionate life, focusing on what is truly important. We will miss you dearly, but are celebrating your new life in Heaven. Please join the family on Monday evening, September 16, 7:00 PM for Ed’s Life Celebration at Midway Church of the Brethren, 13 Evergreen Road, Lebanon, PA. The family would enjoy receiving your greetings from 6 – 7 PM, and also, following the service, during which time you are invited for dessert and coffee. Those desiring, may make contributions in Ed’s memory to Hospice and Community Care, 685 Good Dr., P.O. Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604, or, Midway Church of the Brethren, Mission Fund, 13 Evergreen Road., Lebanon, PA 17042. Clauser Funeral Home, Inc. is handling his arrangements.
