Alfred "Freddy" Lopes

LOPES, Alfred “Freddy”- Age 71, of Scituate, passed peacefully in his home with family on June 10, 2026. Born in Fogo, Cape Verde to the late Cristiano and Maria Lopes, he immigrated to the US as a young man and proudly served in the US army.

Freddy is survived by his loving wife Lisete "Zita" Lopes, father to Justin Lopes, step sons Teddy Veiga, William Cushing and Brian Cushing, his siblings Delfino Lopes of Scituate and Delfina and Teresa Lopes of Fogo, Cape Verde. numerous nieces and nephews who loved him like a dad.

He was predeceased by his son Alfred "Freddy" Lopes Jr, his sisters Maria Vasquez and Catarina Lopes, and his brother Manny “Nene” Lopes.

He was a corrections officer in the Bridgewater prison system for many years. Because of his love for the land Later in life he owned and ran his own landscaping company called A Lopes landscaping and excavating.

A visitation will take place on Thursday June 18, 2026 from 3-7pm at Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home, 382 First Parish Road, Scituate. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday June 19, 2026 at 10am from St. Mary of the Nativity Church, 1 Kent Street, Scituate.
