Born in 1927, Alice was the second oldest of six children, all of whom predeceased her. She graduated from Regis College in 1948 and worked as a chemist in the Personal Care Division of the Gillette Company, enjoying a fulfilling career over two periods—first before starting her family, and later returning to work after the death of her husband.
Alice was married to Robert E. Gallagher for 23 years until his passing in 1976 and raised three children, whom she loved deeply.
Alice was a woman of unwavering faith, which grounded her life and shaped the way she treated others—with kindness, patience, and humility.
Alice had a lifelong connection to Scituate, especially Sandhills, where she summered as a child, and Third Cliff/Rivermoor, where she began vacationing in the 1940s and eventually settled full-time in 1962. She remained active well into her late eighties—playing tennis at the Mill Pond Tennis Club/YMCA, golfing with the 9-Holers at Scituate Country Club, playing bridge, and bowling with friends at the Cohasset Community Center. She was always up for a party and brought a fun-loving presence to any gathering.
A lifelong learner, she had a deep appreciation for the arts and was a quiet champion of her local library. A charter member of the Third Cliff Book Club, she enjoyed the comradery of the neighborhood bibliophiles. For more than ten years, she volunteered with the Scituate Meals-on-Wheels Program, delivering meals and a friendly conversation to fellow community members.
Alice is survived by her three children: Sean (wife Susan and daughter Maggie), Adria, and Pearce (wife Heather and daughter Megan). She leaves behind many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, and cousins. Alice shared a particularly close bond with the Ryan clan, cherishing the time spent together over the years.
Special thanks to her wonderful friends, particularly Alice’s Angels, whose love, laughter, and support meant so much to her.
The family is grateful for the kind and compassionate care provided by her exceptional healthcare teams.
Services will be private.
