Barbara Molinari

Barbara J. (Sonsini, Hartwell) Molinari – 87, passed away of natural causes on Tuesday, March 20, 2018. She was born November 28, 1930 in Needham, MA. She is predeceased by her parents Frank A. and Eleanor (Arduino) Sonsini, her first husband Thurston Hartwell, Jr., her second husband Frank M. Molinari and her daughter Linda J. Hartwell.

Barbara grew up in Wellesley Hills, MA and graduated from Wellesley High School in 1948. During her early years she studied classical piano at the Conservatory of Music in Boston and developed her talents to become an accomplished jazz pianist, artist and vocalist. She entertained professionally for many years at the VA hospitals with the USO after WWII, private parties and functions and night clubs throughout the Boston area. Through her music, she met her second husband Frank Molinari, who was also a professional musician and fellow alumni of the Conservatory of Music.

After high school, Barbara went on to work for AT&T as a telephone operator and retired after 24 years of service. While raising her children and working, she lived in Needham, Sharon and Scituate, MA. Upon her retirement, she moved to Inverness, FL and later Morehead City, NC. She returned to MA in 2012.

She leaves behind her brother Richard A. Sonsini of Venice, FL, her daughter Deborah A. Young of Scituate, MA, her son Jeffrey T. Hartwell of East Putnam, CT, 3 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

Barbara loved listening to music, playing the piano and singing, reading, being with her cats, growing African Violets and living in her home in North Carolina. She will be remembered for her many talents, her wit and sense of humor. For those who knew her and loved her, there was never a dull moment and she made life interesting.
