Carol A. Brickley passed away peacefully at the Newfield House in Plymouth on August 1, 2026. She was surrounded by family and friends in her final days, a testament to her quiet strength and deep connections she developed throughout her life.
Beloved wife of William J. Brickley of fifty-five years, she was the loving and devoted mother of Christopher and his wife Icelle of Scituate. Nothing brought her greater joy than her grandchildren Theo, Julian, and Iyli. She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins. Family gatherings, whether large or small, were important to Carol.
She enjoyed family vacations to many different locations such as the Canadian Rockies, Scotland and England, and Hawaii.
Born in Boston, she grew up in Hingham with her brother H. Thomas and his partner Sue Ahola of Six Mile, South Carolina, sisters Kathleen Murphy and her husband Robert, of Whitman, and Donna Russell and her husband Gary of Westfield. She was the daughter of the late Harry Kershaw and Dorothy (Kenefick) Kershaw.
Carol graduated from Boston State College and was an elementary school teacher in Hingham, Norwell, and Rockland for 20 years. Her faith was a large part of her life, guiding her actions and friendships.
Carol’s family extends its heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated and benevolent staff of Newfield House for the exceptional care, kindheartedness, and dignity they provided to Carol. Their support and unwavering commitment brought great comfort to Carol and her family and will always be remembered with deep appreciation. The family also expresses their sincere thanks to Cranberry Hospice for the compassionate care and support they provided during Carol’s illness. Their understanding and dedication toward Carol were a strong source of support to both Carol and her loved ones.
A visitation will take place from 4-7 pm on Thursday, August 6, 2026 at Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home, 382 First Parish Road, Scituate, Massachusetts. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 am on Friday, August 7, 2026 at Saint Mary of the Nativity Parish, 1 Kent Street, Scituate, Massachusetts. Burial will immediately follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Meetinghouse Lane, Scituate, Massachusetts. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
